We decided for my husband and kids to stay home to cut costs. I saw a tiny bit of the island, but want to go back (with the kids) and try Kaanapali. We stayed in Kihei and Wailea. The undertow was very strong and I would not recommend letting your kids go to Big Beach. It was very uncrowded and were the only ones on the beach one day.
